The Pennsylvania Paintings
Living in Pennsylvania with Bucks, Northampton, and Philadelphia Counties as home for over 20 years collectively; these were the grounds of my first oils on canvas works. With New York City within easy reach, I have found a sweet balance of city and country. With all my NYC arts affiliations intact, my life in Easton, PA is productive and peaceful. Nice combination.
In honor of the XIV Florence Biennale 2023 as an invited painter, my intention here is to tell my story and shine a light on a really genuine life in art and design.
As a compilation of my painting and illustration experience, I share with you this set of galleries. There's still significant work yet to post such as Federal courtroom drawings, illustrations from unpublished projects, new paintings. Many of the works are new here but may have been done decades ago.
Some of the paintings will soon be available as prints here on Artspan.
One famous impressionist said, "It's seems I paint the way I paint." I'll complement that quote saying, "I draw the way I draw" too. Like handwriting, a singular recognizable 'signature' emerges in my painting and drawing. I developed, with diligence, my own 'signature' in all my work that protects it soundly.
These galleries are meant to be a window to an internal visual world that began for me very early on. As a adult, I did commercial work to earn a living, and that work was published, but regarding my painting and drawing, there was personal anonymity well into mid-life for many reasons I'm still learning to understand.
I'd paint and draw, usually finishing a work, and then I'd put it away, as habit, without anyone ever seeing it. I'm doing my best to put those regretful habits to rest for good.
Look for an associate website: NJ Allender Photography and Design here on Artspan and Instagram soon.
As the theme of the Biennale is so apropo, I Am You.
Hands On - Here I am. Thank you for taking your time to review my art.
